Mr Dirk Drent

Dirk enjoys the diversity of male and female urology. This includes laparoscopic and general open urological procedures. Minor procedures such as vasectomy, circumcision and prostate biopsies are done in the rooms.

Dirk was the first surgeon in New Zealand to perform laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy and sacrohysteropexy (Pelvic reconstructive surgery) on women with pelvic organ prolapse in 2001.

  • Corrective surgery, where possible, for people who are doing intermittent self-catheterisation.

Dirk trained as a Urologist in Pretoria, South Africa. Dirk and his family moved to New
Zealand in 1996 and he has been working as a urologist in New Zealand ever since. For the first 22 years had been working between both Auckland and Hamilton but is now currently only working in Hamilton.
